Published: July 8, 2008 at 9:41 PM THE HAGUE, Netherlands, July 8 (UPI) -- An international court's appeals panel has stayed a decision to free a Congolese rebel leader accused of recruiting child soldiers, court officials say. The International Criminal Court's Trial Chamber in The Hague , the Netherlands, last week had ordered Thomas Lubango released after ruling he could not a receive a fair trial. However, the court's Appeals Chamber suspended his release Monday, the U.N. News Center said in a release Tuesday. Lubango will now remain in custody until the court rules on the prosecution's appeal. The proceedings against Lubango were suspended June 16 when the Trial Chamber determined prosecutors failed to reveal more than 200 documents to the defense that have the potential to prove his innocence.
