Consumer panel holds Image Hospital guilty

Orders payment of compensation for failing to guide patient properly on treatment HYDERABAD: The AP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has held Image Hospitals, Ameerpet, guilty of ‘medical negligence’ in not bringing to the notice of the complainant the high Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA) results indicating malignancy and also in not explaining the prognosis of Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate (TURP). Justice D. Appa Rao, president, M. Shreesha, and G. Bhoopathi Reddy, members of the commission, in their order on June 23 directed the hospital to pay Rs.1 lakh towards medical expenses to Mohan B. Udiavar, Assistant General Manager, SBH, Gunfoundry. They ordered payment of Rs. 3 lakh as compensation for the trauma and mental agony, along with Rs.5,000 as costs.
