Wednesday, July 09, 2008 By Sohail Khan ISLAMABAD: A constitutional petition was filed on Tuesday in the Supreme Court, pleading the apex court to direct the federal government not to shelve the Kalabagh Dam project in the best interest of the nation. The petition was filed by chairman Pakistan People's Movement Liberation (PPML), Muhammad Ashfaq Chaudhry through his counsel Qazi Sheharyar Iqbal under Article 184(3) of the Constitution. The petitioner has made the federal government, the minister for water and power, heads of all major political parties and the provincial chief ministers as respondents. It pleaded the court to order that the construction work on the proposed water reservoir should not be neglected in the larger public interest and the funds reserved for the project should not be used for any other purpose....
