A Hollywoodland production company has teamed up with major Colombian players to bring the "Colombian hostage rescue" to the big screen. Vertigo Entertainment has struck a deal with a Colombian television network and production outfit RCN to tell the the story of last week's dramatic rescue of former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, 3 Americans and 11 other hostages from the hands of rebel group FARC, who kidnapped them. According to the Hollywood Reporter, while many in LaLaLand were vying for the rights to the dramatic story, Vertigo had the inside track on securing the rights due to the company's relationship with RCN. Vertigo worked with RCN to secure remake rights to the Colombian film Al Final del Espectro, and has set up the project at Universal with the working title At the End of the Spectra....
