Paul Cherry, Gazette Crime Reporter Published:Â 25 minutes ago MONTREAL - A Laval woman is facing a prison sentence in the U.S. after she pleaded guilty to taking part in a telemarketing scheme that targetted widows and widowers. Joyce Goodlin was among several people arrested in 2002 after the RCMP raided a telemarketing operation that operated in the Montreal area and targeted elderly people in the U.S. through fake promises of lottery winnings. She and at least nine other members of the network were extradited to the U.S. where most have been convicted in a case filed in U.S. District Court in New Hampshire. On Monday, Goodlin pleaded guilty to two charges, conspiracy to commit racketeering and conspiracy to committ wire fraud. Sentencing in her case is scheduled to begin in November.
