The G8 at the moment want to stick to a 50% decrease in CO2 emmisions by 2050. But of course anyone who knows anything about oil will now by then there won't even be any oil left for them to burn. Also if we stopped in 2050 the effects of Climate Change would continue for another 50years as the carbon dioxide reaches the atmosphere. So we are all doomed! Hopefully we'll be able to do carbon catching and storing by them. But the G5 (India, China, South Africa, Brazil and India) have called for it to be put up to 80% which is a lot more logical. This for one would help stop the global economy collapsing in the 2040s, which could well happen if we only cut emmisions by 50%.
