Ebay, the world’s biggest online auctioneer, has seen its reputation take a battering this year after making changes to its business practices and, more recently, being sued by Louis Vuitton; yet the site still enjoys stronger than average recommendation levels, according to YouGov’s BrandIndex. The website’s buzz, a measure of whether people have heard positive or negative things about a brand, has nosedived five percentage points since it was ordered to pay French luxury goods company Louis Vuitton Hennessey (LVMH) £32 million in damages at the end of June.
