Not all Doral employees knew of Ford's consulting deal

By CHRIS ECHEGARAY • Staff Writer • July 8, 2008 High-ranking Doral Dental employees testified in federal court this morning that they were initially unaware of the contract between former state Sen. John Ford's consulting firm and the dental company. Stephen Pollock, who was vice president and general counsel for Doral, testified that he didn't know about the agreement until Doral was being sold to Dental Quest. Testimony on Monday revealed Ford and his business partners were paid roughly $1.7 million in consulting fees from the TennCare contractor. Ford, 66, is accused of receiving consulting fees from two TennCare contractors, Memphis-based OmniCare and Wisconsin-based Doral Dental, from 2002 to 2005 while he served as a state senator on the general welfare committee and the TennCare oversight committee.
