Wright, 38, was found guilty June 9 of the first-degree felony murder, kidnapping, and larceny of Johnson. Johnson, 50, of Washington Township, was killed in her home in June 2007 when she was stabbed six times and her throat was slit. Her body was found by a Macomb County officer in Oakland County’s Cass Lake, weighed down by cinder blocks. When Wright was arrested, police found in his pocket a vial of diamonds plucked from a $220,000 necklace Johnson owned. He told police he'd killed Johnson accidentally as he tried to force her into his work trailer so he could extort money from Richard Blanchard, Johnson’s wealthy boyfriend.
