Strong earthquakes in Pacific

Two strong earthquakes occurred this morning on opposite sides of the Pacific ocean. A quake measuring 6.0 on the moment magnitude scale struck southern Peru near Arequipa. The epicentre was located 53km north-northwest of Arequipa, at a depth of 74km. And a second earthquake, with an estimated magnitude of 6.0 jolted southern Japan Its focus was in the ocean 50km below the surface off the island of Okinawa, which is around 1,600km southwest of Tokyo. The Japan Meteorological Agency said there was no risk of a tsunami in the region.
