Doherty misses gig due to pregnant cat

Last Modified: 08 Jul 2008 Source: ITN Pete Doherty and his band Babyshambles reportedly missed out on £60,000 when they missed a festival appearance to take care of the singer's pregnant cat. The Albion star decided against travelling to the Werchter festival in Belgium, where his band were due to play on the same stage as The Verve and Jay-Z. According to reports, Doherty has up to ten cats at his home in Wiltshire and is very protective of them. The cat in question went into labour as the band were getting ready to fly out to the four-day festival. Back in May, Doherty turned up late for a gig in Brixton, south London, claiming that he had to bury one of his felines on the side of the road en route to the venue.
