Hospital housing victory for first-year doctors

Jul 8 2008 Western Mail Madeleine Brindley, Health Editor, reports from the BMA’s annual representatives’ meeting in Edinburgh FIRST-YEAR doctors training in Wales will continue to have access to free hospital accommodation for another year. Health Minister Edwina Hart decided last night that the provision of free on-site housing for F1 training grade doctors will continue in Wales until July 2009. She also said a working group would look at the issues surrounding the provision of accommodation for all staff working in the NHS in Wales, potentially including nurses, as part of ongoing work into NHS recruitment to Wales, particularly rural areas.
