Medvedev: No progress with US after Bush meeting

RUSUTSU, Japan -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says his first talks with President Bush since his election have resulted in no progress on the issues dividing the countries. Medvedev met with Bush Monday on the sidelines of a Group of Eight summit in Japan. He told reporters Tuesday that he and Bush agreed the U.S. election campaign should not disrupt contacts between the former Cold War foes. Moscow and Washington are at odds on issues such as U.S. missile defense plans and NATO expansion. Medvedev has pledged to continue Vladimir Putin's foreign policy course.
