New South Wales Transport Minister John Watkins met union officials for three hours today in an effort to resolve the wage dispute driving the strike threat. Unions NSW secretary John Robertson emerged from the meeting saying some positive progress had been made. The Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) would now consult with its delegates and make a decision by 5pm (AEST) today on whether to push ahead with the strike, he said.
