McCorvey / The Detroit News A plane carrying auto parts for a General Motors Corp. plant in Mexico crashed Sunday at 2:15 a.m. as it was attempting to land in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, killing the pilot and seriously injuring the co-pilot, U.S. officials said. Mexican officials said the co-pilot suffered second- and third-degree burns and remained in critical condition at a hospital in the nearby city of Saltillo, the Associated Press reported. Don McNeff, spokesman for the plane's operator, Ypsilanti-based USA Jet Airlines, said the DC-9-15 freighter left Willow Run Airport at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for Hamilton, Ontario, to pick up cargo, then flew from Hamilton to Shreveport, La., to clear customs.
