McArthur River traditional owners take case back to court

Traditional owners are going back to court in a last ditch effort to stop the expansion of the McArthur River Mine near Borroloola. The mine's owner Xstrata is converting the mine from underground to open cut, diverting nearly six kilometres of the McArthur River to do so. The Federal Court last month ruled against traditional owners who had argued the Commonwealth approval process was flawed.
