A man accused of making corrupt payments to former Beattie government minister Gordon Nuttall has been committed to stand trial. At the start of his committal hearing alongside Nuttall in Brisbane Magistrates Court, former WorkCover Queensland director Harold Shand conceded through his lawyer that there was a prima facie case against him. Shand is accused of making a corrupt $60,000 payment to the then industrial relations minister in April 2002. Magistrate Linda Bradford-Morgan today formally charged Shand with making a corrupt payment. He will face trial at a later date. A committal hearing against Nuttall is expected to...
