In Book 2 of the Dave Robicheaux series, our hero has made immense changes in his life. He's married to Annie, the social worker whom he met in The Neon Rain. He's resigned from the New Orleans Police Department homicide division, cut off all ties with his former partner Clete Purcel, and has moved to New Iberia, Louisiana to open a bait-and-boat shop on the bayou.
