Demand on Chicot Aquifer may exceed supply in Acadiana Claire Taylor • ctaylor@theadvertiser.com • July 6, 2008 While southeastern states battle over evaporating water supplies, southwest Louisiana has an abundance of quality drinking water in the Chicot Aquifer, experts said. "In general, most people think the Chicot Aquifer is in good shape, capable of supplying good water for most sources that use it now, at least for the foreseeable future," said Tim Duex, UL associate professor of geology.
