The Olivier Job Index is now trending down for the first time in six years with fewer jobs advertised in 14 of the 16 sectors surveyed. Job advertisements fell 3.58 per cent in June with the biggest fall in transport, which dropped 8.8 per cent following a rise in fuel prices. Financial services and banking had 9.3 per cent fewer job ads than in June last year, and the IT&T sector was down 1.3 per cent. While hospitality tourism and travel fell 4.9% as the high Australian dollar continued to have an impact. Economic uncertainty ate away at employer confidence and all states declined in employment opportunities, except resource rich Western Australia, which was up 1.83 per cent.
