Man fatally shot while investigating suspicious noise

A man was shot and killed early Saturday after checking on noises coming from a vacant unit in his apartment building, police said. Pierre Moore, 22, of the 2200 block of South Springfield Avenue was home about 1 a.m. when he heard noises in a first-floor apartment that was supposed to be empty, said Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak, a department spokeswoman.
