Ostholt heads the charge for Germany

Frank Ostholt finished first and third on Air Jordan and Mr Mendicott, respectively, in the DHL Prize for eventing, which was concluded yesterday at the Aachen Super League Show in Germany. He also led the home riders to team victory over Sweden and Britain, which was hardly surprising since the Germans were fielding their top Olympic candidates. The German selectors were left with a dilemma when Bettina Hoy's 17-year-old dressage leader, Ringwood Cockatoo, was found to be lame after a disastrous show-jumping round so did not start across country. A decision regarding Cockatoo was due to be made at a selectors' meeting yesterday evening.
