MIDLOTHIAN firm MacTaggart Scott has won a £13m order for aircraft lifts, part of £91m of initial contracts awarded to seven companies for work on two aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy. The biggest order went to Corus, which will produce steel for the vessels in a £65m deal. Work on HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, the biggest and most powerful surface warships ever made in the UK, will create or sustain 10,000 jobs at shipyards in Barrow-in-Furness, Govan, Portsmouth and Rosyth, with much of the work carried out by the BVT Surface Fleet consortium.
