Sturm defends middleweight title

Felix Sturm defended his WBA title for the fourth time German Felix Sturm won his rematch with American Randy Griffin, defending his middleweight title on points. Sturm, making the fourth defence of his WBA title, won a unanimous verdict over Griffin, with the judges scoring the contest 116-113, 116-112 and 118-110. The German used his jab effectively catching Griffin with several fierce blows in the fifth and landing repeated combinations in the 11th. The pair last met in 2007 with that contest ending a draw. "I had to make this rematch with Griffin," said Sturm. Griffin, who lost for the second time in 29 fights, disagreed with the unanimous verdict. "I have to live with this decision," he said.
