Webber scorches at Silverstone

Mark Webber has added scorching speed to a season of consistency to qualify on the front row for the British Grand Prix. The Australian took his Red Bull machine around the famous Silverstone circuit faster than all drivers other than McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen. Webber equalled his best Formula One qualifying performance and was on track to claim his maiden pole position before Kovalainen turned in a scorching final lap. Kovalainen topped the time sheets with a 1:21.049 while Webber's 1:21.554 was enough to leave Kimi Raikkonen third, hometown hero Lewis Hamilton fourth and Nick Hiedfeld in fifth place.
