AUSTRALIA'S loss is Britain's gain in the case of Laura Robson. Born in Melbourne to Australian parents, the 14-year-old is being hailed as the future of British tennis and she has been as impressive off the court as on it at Wimbledon. From keeping a cool head after frustrated semi-final opponent Romana Tabakova of Slovakia served underarm during their match, to her considered answers and polite demeanour in interviews, Robson has become the darling of the British press. Having reached the girls' final against Noppawan Lertcheewakarn of Thailand, a reporter asked Robson who she would be taking to the champions' ball.
