Bush-McCain unlikely to appear together at GOP convention

Like this story? Share it with Yahoo! Buzz As you might expect on a holiday weekend with four months still to go to Election Day, things appear to be fairly quiet on the campaign trail this morning. But there are a couple interesting stories out there: • The New York Times says that the White House, the Republican National Committee and John McCain's presidential campaign are still figuring out just how to coordinate the symbolic passing of the torch from President Bush to McCain at the Republican National Convention. The White House now says that Bush will speak to the delegates in St. Paul on the first night of the convention -- Monday, Sept. 1 -- and the Times says it is unlikely he and McCain will make a joint appearance.
