For the first time in nearly a quarter century, a major naval warship will be commissioned in Baltimore. The USS Sterett, a $1.3 billion missile destroyer, recently left its shipyard in Maine for a month of testing at sea. The Baltimore Sun reported Friday that the warship will stop in Newport, Rhode Island and Norfolk, Virginia before sailing to Baltimore harbor for a commissioning ceremony Aug. 9.
