Giorgio Pantano came from fifth on the grid to win a thrilling GP2 Series encounter at Silverstone, strengthening his hold on the lead of the drivers championship. Running initially in the leading group, the Italian pushed his Racing Engineering entry to second place after passing Romain Grosjean and then hunted down long-time leader Lucas di Grassi to claim the lead at Stowe. di Grassi continued to apply pressure but, as so often in the past, had to settle for a lower step on the podium.
