Welterweights Roan Carneiro (12-7) and Ryo Chonan (14-8) are penciled in to scrap at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., on September 6, according to Tatame.com. The two were supposed to hook ‘em up earlier this year at UFC 85: “Bedlam;” however, Chonan sustained an undisclosed injury and was forced to withdraw from the bout. Kevin Burns — a banker from Iowa — agreed to replace Chonan on short notice. And in his Octagon debut he submitted Carneiro — a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt — with a guillotine choke in round two of their bout. It was a major upset and a huge set back for “Jucao.” He’ll look to add Chonan to his UFC win list, which includes Tony DeSouza and Rich Clementi.
