Officials investigate cause of fire From staff reports • July 5, 2008 One person was killed and another seriously injured in an early morning house fire in New Iberia. The fire occurred at a home on Silver Street. Two people were in the home when the blaze started. A neighbor managed to pull one of the victims out of a window. New Iberia Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Mark Dore said the department received the call at 3:25 a.m. Friday and firefighters were on the scene at 3:29 a.m. The house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
