NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee joined in the celebrations on the US Independence Day as he attended a reception here hosted by Ambassador David Mulford. Besides Mukherjee, a large number of prominent dignitaries and diplomats attended the reception. A six-member visiting US Congressional delegation, led by Gary Ackerman, was also present at the event held under tight security arrangements. Earlier in the day, the day was also celebrated in the form of signing of an agreement between India and the US to double the number of scholarships under the popular Fulbright educational exchange programme.
