Smart car: Think Smart

The Smart is one of the greenest cars you can buy, but Mercedes recently unveiled a trio of even more economical models: a battery-electric prototype, a new diesel and a petrol version that switches off below 5mph, which you could win in an exclusive Telegraph Motoring competition. Andrew English reports Politicians aren't very good at picking winners. Ken Livingstone and his gang of uninformed pedants at Transport for London decided on supposedly environmental grounds to favour petrol-electric hybrid technology and ended up with gargantuan Lexus limos driving through the capital for free.
