NEW DELHI: About 2.5 lakh people, including 5,000 non-resident Indians from 97 countries, have paid their property tax online this year, the MCD said. Compared to 96,890 the previous year, a total of 2,46,725 people having their property in Delhi paid house tax online till June 30, MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta told reporters here. Among the NRIs, 3,000 paid tax online from the US, 1,189 from Canada and 466 from the UK. Nearly 20,000 people from various cities of India also used the online mode. Gupta said in all, 6,29,278 people have paid their house tax upto June 30, an increase of 57,152 from last year.
