Poland has rejected a US offer to boost its air defence in return for basing a "missile shield" on Polish soil but remains open for further talks with Washington, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today. Washington wants to place 10 missile interceptors in Poland and a tracking radar in the Czech Republic as part of global missile defences it says will protect the US and its allies from what it calls "rogue states" such as Iran. In the negotiations, Tusk's centre-right government has sought billions of dollars worth of US investment to upgrade air defences in return for hosting the interceptors.
