Our children are globally illiterate

What are they teaching our kids? Half of children do not want foreigners living in Britain, a study reveals today. And a fifth of youngsters do not talk about major worldwide issues such as the Zimbabwe crisis and the Beijing Olympics at school. Education in Britain is failing to prepare schoolchildren for the wider world and is leaving them 'globally illiterate', according to the charity DEA. 'The government wants young people to have a world-class education but a key question is whether it is preparing them for the world,' said chief executive Hetan Shah.
