Thursday, July 3, 2008 Herds of elephants and deer have started to migrate across the country's parks, green spaces and... famous shops. But they pose little danger of trampling you in the aisles because they are fashioned from a combination of recycled steel and sculpted greenery. The 13 elephants and seven deer are on a Survival Tour to highlight the plight of their flesh-and-blood cousins. It is part of an initiative to plant the seeds of awareness about the need for 'animal corridors' linking habitats separated by encroaching human settlement. Made by US artist 'Topiary Joe' Kyte, the life-size models are presently in St James's Park, London, and will wander to Regent's Park next month.
