Man appears in court on murder charge

A 23-YEAR-old man has appeared before magistrates charged with the murder of 60-year-old Stan Dixon. Gary Robson, of Galloway Road in Peterlee, County Durham, was also charged with a common assault on Mr Dixon's partner, 41-year-old Anne Fisher. No application was made for bail during the hearing at Peterlee Magistrates Court and Mr Robson was remanded in custody to Newcastle Crown Court next Wednesday. Mr Dixon had been on a life-support machine after being injured following an altercation on bus last Saturday evening and died yesterday afternoon. He had suffered serious head injuries as he was alighting the Hartlepool to Horden 243 Arriva 'Hopper' service, at about 10pm on Saturday night.
