Man Charged With Bus Row Murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a former soldier who was attacked after asking a group of people to stop swearing on a bus. Stan Dixon died while returning from Hartlepool Stan Dixon, 60, suffered a serious head injury in the assault as he waited to get off the bus in Horden, near Peterlee, County Durham. He was taken to Newcastle General Hospital where he died yesterday. The victim was returning from Hartlepool on the Arriva 243 bus with his 41-year-old girlfriend on Saturday evening. It is believed the couple got into an argument with two men and a young woman at the back of the vehicle when Mr Dixon asked them not to use foul language.
