The former soldier attacked on a bus after asking thugs to stop swearing in front of his girlfriend has died. Brave Stan Dixon, 60, had his life support machine switched off last night after doctors spent four days battling to save his life. A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder and is set to appear at Peterlee magistrates court this morning. On Saturday, Stan was on his way home from a night out with Anne Fisher, 41, and waiting to get off a bus in Horden, near Peterlee, County Durham, when he asked two young men and a girl not to use foul language. The father of three was met with a torrent of abuse and decided to get Anne off the bus before their stop. But as he reached the open door two men rushed forward and attacked him.
