KAWAI, Iwate -- A young woman whose body was found in a river here was likely murdered in a separate location, police investigators have found. Investigators said there was evidence that the woman had been strangled. Her skull was fractured and she had a deep wound on her head. There were no other significant external injuries. However, police said there was no evidence of a struggle on the rail of a bridge over the river or on the road, and none of the woman's belongings were found. Police believe the wound on the woman's head was caused by her falling from the bridge into the river about 4.5 meters below.
