Legislation set to clear way for fuel taxes

Legislation clearing the way for the introduction of regional fuel taxes is set to become law today. This afternoon will see the third reading of the Government's Land Transport Management Amendment Bill. It will allow for regional fuel levies of 2c a litre by next year and 5c by 2010 with the money to be used on regional transport infrastructure projects. The Government has the numbers for the legislation with the Green Party, the Maori Party, United Future, the Progressive Party and Phillip Field expected to vote in favour of it. Share this...
