Wimbledon: Veterans Rainer Schuettler and Arnaud Clement battle for last semi-final slot By William Johnson German veteran Rainer Schuettler and Arnaud Clement, of France, were left to slug it out this afternoon for the honour of extending Wimbledon's record of regularly producing unseeded men's singles semi-finalists. The two thirtysomethings were locked at one set all last night when it was decided at 8.55pm that there was no chance of finishing. Clement had fought back strongly to draw level after being outplayed in the opening set and looked to have the momentum. Six times in nine years a non-seed has endorsed the strength of the men's game by surviving until the second Friday, but it was anybody's guess who this year's intruder would be.
