Last-minute budget Folsom-Cordova budget has nearly $6 million in cuts

By Walter Yost - wyost@sacbee.com Published 3:56 pm PDT Wednesday, July 2, 2008 Hoping for some last-minute relief from the state, Folsom Cordova Unified School District trustees waited until the final day to approve their 2008-09 budget. But no help materialized, and the board reluctantly approved a budget Monday with nearly $6 million in cuts. "I don't think there's a part of this budget that hasn't been affected," Deputy Superintendent Debbie Bettencourt told the board. Among the most high-profile cuts to the $147 million budget are the elimination of third grade class-size reduction and cutbacks to school counseling. Other reductions will affect custodians, librarians, building maintenance and repair employees and special education classroom aides.
