As promised, the Torrey Pines North Golf Course will open for nine-hole public play today at daylight, just 15 days after Tiger Woods made the winning putt at the 108th U.S. Open on the South Course. Jon Maddern, the city's new golf operations manager, said golfers will get to play the 10th through 17th holes on the North before switching over to the par-5 ninth to complete their nine holes. The North Course hosted hospitality tents, the huge merchandise pavilion, and the media tent. Part of the back nine was used as a parking lot. “The bunkers have been edged, the tees cut and the nine greens are cut and ready to go,” Maddern said.
