Lewis Hamilton blown away by meeting with Nelson Mandela

One dream has been realised and another looms larger than the labours of Hercules. Long after his hero Nelson Mandela had left, Lewis Hamilton started British Grand Prix week sitting in an empty ball room at London's Dorchester hotel, staring at a table of discarded napkins and empty wine glasses, starstruck like one of his own fans. "When I met him it was like walking in to see the king. To be in front of God," said Hamilton. "He's such a genuine guy. "I was blown away. I was left speechless. I've never been speechless before." It was a moment for Hamilton the man, not Hamilton the sporting icon. "At school you learn a lot about British history, but I thought it was important to learn about my background, where I came from, about black history," he added.
