American R&B artist Ne-Yo gatecrashed Coldplay’s domination of the British charts, according to figures released on Sunday. Having secured their first UK number one single last week with “Viva La Vida” -- the title track from their new album -- Coldplay slipped to two as Ne-Yo’s “Closer” moved up one place to take the top spot, the Official UK Charts Company said. In a largely static top 10, the biggest mover was US pop singer Jordin Sparks and “No Air” -- featuring Chris Brown -- a record that climbed from 10 to number three, while R&B singer Brown’s own single “Forever” rose one to four. Coldplay enjoyed better success in the album charts as their fourth long-player “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends” enjoyed a third week at number one.
