MarketWatch First Take: Was Microsoft really not serious about Yahoo bid?

Commentary: Whatever the truth, both sides seem to have botched this deal SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Yahoo Inc. made the amazing disclosure on Monday in a regulatory filing that Microsoft, its former suitor, was really not serious about doing a deal at all, an observation that actually was floated by at least one Wall Street analyst at the time the talks came to light earlier this year. Yahoo said that before it entered into a pact with search rival Google Inc. , its board and management asked Microsoft on both May 17 and June 8 "if it was interested in a full company acquisition."
