HELLENIC Premier side Shortwood United start their pre-season training with sessions on Monday, July 7 and Thursday, July 10. Players old and new are welcome to join in at Nympsfield Playing Fields as the club, who are hoping to improve on last season's fifth place finish, return to action. The Wood have also arranged six friendly fixtures, beginning at Brimscombe & Thrupp of the Northern Senior League on Wednesday, July 16 (7pm). A week later, on July 23, John Evans' side meet Cinderford Town of the British Gas Business League Division One South & West at their Causeway ground (7.30pm). Shortwood's third fixture will see them entertain former league rivals North Leigh. The pair meet on July 30 at 7.30pm.
