A wonderful proverb with African roots reminds us of a fundamental truth: "For tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today." That's good guidance for individuals, families and communities alike. "Tomorrow" will be on the agenda in a big way Wednesday when people from throughout Central Louisiana meet in Alexandria for a "Summit on Sustainability." This first-ever local summit will enhance and advance the discussion that is under way about "smart growth," a mind-set that is all about tomorrow and how to prepare for it today.
